Bio:

Lee Gregory

Keyboards / Vocals

Lee was born in Iowa, and began showing an interest in music at age 4. His parents had bought an old upright piano for Lee’s older sister to learn to play, and Lee started picking out little tunes right away. When the family moved to Bakersfield, Ca in 1964, Lee was taken in by a local teacher, Richard Eicholz. Eicholz tutored him in music at no charge for two years, and was a huge influence on Lee’s sense of style, not only musically, but personally as well.

During Junior High and High School, Lee and his friends, Mike, James and Keith had a band that played Monkees and Beatles tunes. They probably never learned more than a handful of songs, and never actually played anywhere, but many lessons were learned.

After High School, Lee joined the Army for three years. During his stint in the Army, Lee formed a group called Alley Runner, which performed at Ft Lewis a number of times. Shortly after his release from the service, he joined the Jones Bros from Olympia and then Traxx from Tacoma, and played local bars for the next two years. He also was a member of Fantasy Force, Spank, and Body Parts, all steady working top 40 bands.

In the mid 80’s Lee was invited to join the Blue Baboons, who were at that time the hottest band Tacoma had ever seen. The Babs wrote and performed their own songs, and had a tremendous stage show with Vari-lighting, smoke, explosions, costumes and a variety of “special” guests. They performed on Star Search, MTV Basement tapes, and were local radio darlings up until their breakup in 1987.

After this, Lee pretty much left the business to get rid of his various addictions and raise a family. He performed with Eddie Gillan and the Cool in 1999-2001, during which time they played the legendary Fillmore in San Francisco.

Lee met Jerry Wainhouse in 2007 and Joined with him to build the band that became Kincaid Avenue. They quickly broke out into the local club scene and were climbing fast when Jerry’s wife died suddenly, effectively bringing the group to a standstill.

During most of 2009, Lee has been doing shows with Lynn Sorensen (Paul Rogers Band), Doug McGrew, and Lloyd DeBarr as N’Sane, and has done occasional shows with Dana Osborne.

Jerry and lee are working on a new version of Kincaid Avenue, and are also happy to be involved with Mojo Overload.
